Sam grew up in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Following graduation from Notre Dame High School, Sam attended West Virginia University and earned a bachelor’s of science in Economics. Thereafter, Sam graduated from West Virginia University’s College of Law. After graduating from law school, Sam worked at West Virginia’s largest litigation defense law firm. As a defense lawyer Sam defended some of West Virginia’s largest industrial employers and national trucking companies. In total, Sam defended more than 500 civil lawsuits including over 30 wrongful death lawsuits.
As a defense lawyer Sam developed a “niche” in lawsuits involving serious injury or death at work-sites. Sam also developed a “niche” in lawsuits with serious injury or death involving tractor-trailers. In 2013, when the market for the exploration of natural gas spiked in North Central West Virginia Sam moved to Morgantown to focus his practice on personal injury/wrongful death lawsuits involving gas well sites.
In February 2015, Sam and his uncle created Shaffer Madia Law. Shaffer Madia Law was dissolved when Sam’s uncle was elected to Harrison County Circuit Court Judge. At Shaffer Madia Law, Sam dedicated his practice to representing people and families instead of large insurance companies and trucking companies. Since 2015, Sam has represented over 375 individuals who have been injured, wronged or harmed in a variety of lawsuits. Sam has also represented the estates of 32 individuals who were killed as the result of wrongful conduct of third parties/entities.
Allow Sam to use his experience as a defense lawyer to prosecute your case against the type of clients that he formerly defended.
